Claudia P. DeJohn Saraceno
N.J License # 4701 Owner/Manager/Funeral Director
N.Y Licensed Funeral Director Since 1984

Claudia was born and raised in Brooklyn, moved to Staten Island after getting married in 1984 to John Saraceno ,her husband and partner.  They share a special bond with their daughter Christine Nicole.  Claudia came from a family being one of three children with a father Rocco who worked three jobs to support them.  He taught her how to work hard for what you believe in and never stop unless you achieve your goals.  Her mother Marie taught her how to be the glue to keep family together.  Her brother Gregory and sister in law Paula are inspirations and also are New York and New Jersey states Funeral Directors.  So with all she has learned through her family knows she only wants to be in  a family owned and operated business.

Claudia attended the American Academy of Mc Allister Institute of Mortuary Science  where she graduated in 1983.  Over the last 28 years she has serviced many families both as Manager of Saraceno Funeral Home Inc.  in New York and was called upon by many other funeral directors because of her cosmetic and restorative art abilities in the funeral industry. She was featured in a book "Odd jobs" by Nancy Rica Schiff, and appeared on the John Walsh Show.

As a child she always wanted to help people by volunteering for summer jobs in schools and helping in family businesses, but always wondered what I can do with more meaning.  She realized that the worse time in someone's life is when they experience a loss, that's when she knew what she wanted to do.  " If I could make someone's loss a little easier to bear then my job is complete.

Claudia and John purchased the former Atwood Peterson O'Brien Funeral Home in December of 2009.  They will continue to follow the family owned and operated tradition originally set by the Atwood Peterson family years ago.  We have served many families throughout New York and New Jersey over the past  years.  We will continue to serve you, our families and support you in your time of need.
